As we close in on the school year, the dates for registering for the ACT and SAT become very important.
If you are the parent of a rising junior, meaning they will be in the 11th grade this year, then I suggest you have them take one of tests (if they haven’t already) as soon as possible.
Then, I would space retakes (no more than two) so that they have the score they want by summer before their senior year.
If your child is a rising senior, meaning they will be in the 12th grade next year, I would recommend using the October 6th SAT date as your final try for a “best score,” and for those taking the ACT, I would recommend the September the 8th test date as the final try.
This week on the Get The Acceptance Letter podcast, available on itunes, Google play, Pocket podcasts, and Overcast, I deep dive into:
- Why ACT/SAT dates are so important
- How to improve your ACT/SAT score
- Why getting a “High” score isn’t the only way ACT/SAT scores can affect college admissions
- How to choose between the ACT and SAT
- How ACT/SAT scores lead to scholarships (and it’s not how you think)
