“If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.”
This is a phrase most of us have heard many times. It is also a phrase that applies to conducting scholarship searches. The truth is you have to sift through a lot of “fool’s gold” to get to the real gems that are hiding inside. Over the years, I have developed strategies to weed out the scam scholarships, and the ones that are inappropriate for the college bound teens for whom I am searching, for several additional reasons.
This week on the Get The Acceptance Letter podcast, available on itunes, Google play, Pocket podcasts, and Overcast, I literally conduct a google search for “Scholarships Due In June” and walk you through my thought process as I search for scholarships. This is super valuable, as my experience locating scholarships is an “invisible competency,” meaning it’s something I do really well that I don’t even notice.
In this episode, you will find out:
-
Key acronyms and what they mean
-
Why large prize amounts are sometimes a red flag
-
How to locate the key information in the scholarship description
-
And MORE!
